October 2025 Farm Marketing News

We have quite a few resources and updates to share with you this month, but first: Do you have a website project on your fall to do list? If so, don’t forget that we’re waiving the fee for web project consultation calls for the time being. If you’re still in the research stage, you might check out our platform comparison guide (updated October 2025) to see which web platform best suits you. If you think Square might be a good fit, you’re in luck — we are an official Square Partner, which now means that when you create your account through our partner link*, you’ll get sales processing fees waived for 180 days (on up to $3,000 in sales).

This page contains referral links, which are marked with an asterisk. When you click on a referral link and make a purchase, Grapevine receives a small commission at no cost to you.

Read on for grant opportunities from SARE, advice from farmer Gretl Schlatter on intentional growth, a number of other resources you might find valuable, and important updates to your marketing platforms.

SARE Grant Opportunities

Do you have an innovative idea to promote your farm, communicate with your customers, educate the public, or market your products that you want to explore?

All SARE regions have open calls for proposals for multiple grant programs with deadlines throughout the remainder of the year. A few of these grants provide funding for marketing and communications projects, namely Western SARE and North Central SARE’s Farmer and Rancher Grants Programs, Northeast SARE's Farmer Grant Program, and Southern SARE’s Research and Education Grants and Producer Grants.

Resource Round Up

Project Highlight: Logo Design for Central Mass Organics

Central Mass Organics, an online marketplace for locally sourced food delivery, needed a logo that was highly recognizable from a distance, incorporated both retro and modern aesthetics, provided visual cues for a multi-lingual audience, and was usable across a wide variety of collateral. To meet this request, we built the logo around a modern take on a retro typeface and made sure to include illustrative elements that clearly communicate the marketplace’s local food offerings.

Got A Project in Mind?

Our fall and winter schedule tends to fill up fast, so if you’re planning on kicking off a project with us this year, now is a great time to get a meeting on the books to avoid what can become a months-long waitlist.

The first step is to download our pricing guide, and then you can reserve your spot on our calendar by scheduling a call.

Farm Marketing Updates

Shopify

  • Unit pricing is now available for all users. This update allows merchants to price products and variants per unit (e.g. $5.99/lb) and assign a weight for each product, more effectively displaying per-unit prices to customers on your Shopify store. Previously this was only available for specific merchants.

  • You can now set default packages for product variants. Shopify now lets you set default package dimensions and weights for specific products or product variants that will be used to calculate shipping rates for single item orders. This is an especially useful feature for farms who offer variants with large size/weight differences that necessitate unique packaging.

  • Inventory exports now include a “bin name” column. This allows you to view bin names directly on the Inventory Index page, bulk update bin names using the Inventory Bulk Editor, and print pick lists in bin order, resulting in quicker picking! Start tracking your stock using the new “Bin name” column.

Klaviyo

  • The new Klayiyo App Marketplace is your one-stop shop for integrations that extend what’s possible in Klaviyo. Whether you need e-commerce integrations, AI tools, customer support systems, or more, their marketplace has over 350 verified apps to help you streamline and do more with your data. Browse the Marketplace.

  • Klaviyo has launched Klaviyo AI (K:AI). K:AI can help you build campaigns, answer customer questions 24/7, and personalize customer interactions, using your data to boost sales.

  • Klaviyo has made it easier to capture “add to cart” events in Shopify. This update allows merchants to automatically capture these events, making it more likely that farm website visitors and events will be tracked. Learn how to migrate to the automatic Added to Cart event for Shopify.

Grazecart

  • Product pages can now include multiple product images. Better showcase your offerings with up to 3 images per product. Here’s how.

What We’ve Been Up To

Grapevine marketing consultants Brooklyn and Mary got to meet IRL last month while Brooklyn was visiting the Adirondacks of Upstate New York. While they were at it, they popped in on two of Grapevine's clients, Essex Farm and Reber Rock Farm. Of course Brooklyn also took the opportunity to check out Mary’s beautiful you-pick CSA to harvest veggies and flowers, and generally take in the awe inspiring space Mary has created. Suffice it to say the team experienced some serious FOMO and will be looking for more in-person opportunities whenever they are possible!
