Tell us about one of your favorite farm projects

“I spent a day on the water with Great Marsh Shellfish Co., the first operation to commercially harvest oysters in this region in over 200 years. Last year they grew one million oysters — tended by a small, hardworking crew doing grueling, physical work that demands as much strength as it does commitment, day after day. All of this set within the Great Marsh, 20,000 acres of salt marsh, tidal rivers, and barrier beaches stretching from Cape Ann to the New Hampshire coast. Getting to document the grit of that team against the beauty of that landscape was very rewarding.”

Why do you work with farmers?

“There's an honesty to farming that I find deeply compelling. Farmers don't clock out — they show up in every kind of weather, season after season, guided by a connection to the land that's become increasingly rare. I'm drawn to that relentlessness, and to the quiet dignity of work that's done not for recognition, but because it has to be done. Agriculture moves to the rhythms of the earth, and photographing it means slowing down enough to feel those rhythms too. For me, it's some of the most meaningful work I do behind the lens.”

What’s in your kit?

“Two Nikon camera bodies, several lenses, backdrop and stand, flash.”

What’s your lighting setup?

“I work mostly with available light, sometimes flash.”

Is your business insured?

“Yes.”
